The expression of intent though colour, form and gesture. Sign, signifier and signified are broken down and recomposed to form a new dialectic. Shape and form convey meaning, colour is form. All of it merges and shifts to become things we recognise yet bear no name. I incorporate the fluidity between form and colour, shape and matter both in traditional techniques on paper and canvas whilst toying with the strand that connects substance with appearance. I like to embody emotion and movement in colour that reflect the inner world of the mind we all inhabit and the outer world of fleeting images, shifting organisms, cellular metamorphosis, organic phenomena and oneiric memory. This is a new expression of old, a visual expression of connection.
“..How from no-thing the primal thing arose,
How power of light through the night did ring,
Imbuing the depths of the beings all;
Thus welled up desiring’s surge.
And the elements disclosed themselves,
With hunger into one another poured,
All-imbuing, all-imbued.
Goethe
Satyros [Act 4]
